This project is a collaborative research project between Graduate Student Nathan Bennett and Dr Harvey Lemelin of Lakehead University‘s School of Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism and the Thaidene Nene Parks Working Group of the Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation. The project was made possible through the generous support of the Northern Scientific Training Program (researcher expenses), the Social Economy Network of Northern Canada through a grant from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (researcher expenses), Aurora Research Institute‘s Fellowship (research expenses) and Assistantship (community research assistant) and a community contribution made possible through funding from Parks Canada (researcher and community research expenses). The Lutsel K’e Dene First Nation also provided the researcher with in kind office space and ongoing consultation throughout the project. Community members also showed their support through lending the researcher vehicles, dropping fresh fish off at his front door and sharing with him the beauty of Thaydene Nene.
